Fendi SS 13
MFW SS13 - Fendi
I have to say that it is so far the most luxurious collection for this season: summer fur, extravagant leather and fancy shoes. Curved shoulders and caped shapes are the key points through the whole show and its famed color blocks.
The style is very Cubist and Futurist! Architectural and graphic prints, layered jackets; very functional yet beautiful. After Lagerfeld'e Fendi, I wonder what will happen for his Chanel??
BTW, I love the shoes! The still trendy studs are piling up around the heels and the layered design in front is very architectural.

Outré Fashion Trend: Runway
Not having enough sunshine? Well, times up! Ready to get prepared for your F/W wardrobe! Not sure what is the coming trend? Let's get our tour started!
Obviously (well, maybe not THAT obvious), there are four trends for F/W: Marvel, Outré, Migration and Just. Since Outré is my favorite, here are some brief tips for outré look from the runway!

Gothic vibes, Baroque opulence, sleek leather, rocking crucifix.... Yes, Darkness/Mystery is one of the
major themes for this Outré trend! From Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Givenchy, Balman to Valentino, head-to toe storm-cloud colors with lavish adornment and decadent fabrics lend themselves to a moody but romantic atmosphere. Key elements: leather, velvet, lace and sheer and gold embroidery. Don't forget your red wine-stain lipstick to finish the total look!

We met Karl
Yes and Yes! We met Karl Lagerfeld in Selfridges on 24th of July around 8 pm. My friend and I, we had waited for almost 5 hours. As a result, we got to know every single corner of Selfridges. Well, the waiting was worthful. We first saw Mario Testino. I didn't have my glasses on, so I didn't recognize him until 2 seconds after he was on the carpet. And I was too excited to get my iPhone ready, just got the back of him. Anyway, later on when he went back to take the photo, I finally caught the front of him!
Around 8 PM, we finally saw Karl coming! Surrounded by the bodyguards, medias and cameras, he was exactly what I saw on TV. Because we planned ahead of time, I caught a few good shots. However, without my real camera, iPhone didn't provide much quality.... Probably 10 minutes before he left for the roof cocktail party, my friend and I already lined up in front to catch up the last front photo of him. All of sudden, I saw he was signing for the girls while walking towards the elevator.... I didn't prepare for this, and thanks G that I had my tiny memo with me and he was kind enough to sign for me!
The purpose of Karl's trip was to launch his Karl line in Selfridges and to host a private cocktail party to honor this event. In fact, Selfridges will also debut the designer's premium line: Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man and a womenswear pop-up store (where we saw Karl. P.S the collection is awesome!) presenting the Olympic themed collection that named Team Karl!
Overall, I had a great time and a wonderful experience, though I couldn't feel my feet at all on that night.

Graduate Fashion Week
Finally I was done with Term 2. Besides the usual busy schedule, one of the most exciting things would be the Graduate Fashion Week and our school's own graduate fashion show that actually made me felt like that I was still participating in this industry.
There are still a lot more that I really like. Overall, it was very successful and good luck to those hard-working designers in the future!
The Graduate Fashion Week was on a Tuesday that conflicted with my classes... However, under the "instigation" of my friend, I went to the show and it was totally worth the price of skipping my classes!! Because, first of all, I met Hilary Alexander and even took a photo with her!!!! She was very nice! Second, the fashion shows were fantastic!

However, to be honest, I prefer our school -- London campus' graduate fashion show more. The students' design here are more inspiring and innovative. By the way, I was also helping the backstage and the runway preparation. It was not my first time, but still enjoyed it! Here are some of my favorite designs from the show!
